An aggregate of the KCSE results shows that up to 446,143 candidates scored between D Plus and D Minus.
The results that were released by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu shows that in the D- category, 79,432 are females, while 86,429 are males. 79,612 females have scored D as compared to 75,664 males.
66,032 females attained D+ while 58,974 are males. These figures imply that half of all candidates scored below grade D in the examinations.
The total number of students who scored grade D and below stood at 494,317. This meant that the number of Ds and Es in the 2023 KCSE exams increased from the 489,081 students who scored grade Ds and Es in the 2022 examinations.
On the opposite extreme, a total of 2,782 girls scored A- while 4,472 boys scored A-. A total of 18,078 attained a mean grade of B+ with 10,370 males and 7,708 females.
In the B plain category, there were 36,728 candidates, while a total of 59,514 scored B- and 78,343 scored C+.
2023 KCSE Results: 48,174 candidates score Grade E
A total of 1,216 students scored a mean grade of A. Out of these, 889 students were from national schools.
