The Ministry of Defence recently announced new recruitments into Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) between August and September 2023.
KDF is seeking to recruit general service officers cadets, specialist officers, Tradesmen/women, general duty recruits, and defense forces constables.
To qualify for the positions, candidates must;
- Be in possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card.
- Be between 18 and 26 years for GSO Cadets and General Duty Recruits, and not above 30 years of age for Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/women
- Not be above 39 years of age for Chaplains/Imams.
- Meet the minimum physical requirements: Minimum height for men 1.60m (5ft 3in) and women 1.52m (5ft). The minimum weight for men is 54.55 kg and for women 50.00 Kg
- Have no criminal record.
- Be medically fit
- Have healthy skin devoid of large or deep scars and tattoos

In addition, specialist officers and tradesmen, and tradeswomen should possess a minimum of two years of practical experience in their field of specialization, and female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and during the entire duration of training
All interested candidates for Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/women must apply online on or before 20th August 2023. Shortlisted candidates will be notified through print media between 17th to 24th of September 2023.
The ministry cautioned the public against engaging in any malpractices to influence the selection process.
“Bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law, and anyone suspected of being culpable of such will be arrested and prosecuted in a court of law. KDF recruitment is absolutely free to all,” the ministry stated.
Kenyans were advised to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
