Dr. Ben Chumo has served as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director of The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited since January 7, 2014.
Prior to holding this position, Dr. Ben Chumo served as Acting Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director of the Company between July 1, 2013 and January 7, 2014.
Dr. Chumo joined Kenya Power in July 1986 and was the Chief Manager in charge of Human Resources & Administration since 2003. He was appointed Acting Managing Director and CEO of the Company in July 2013 following the appointment of Eng. Joseph Njoroge to the position of Principal Secretary. He was confirmed as a Director on 7th January 2014. Dr. Ben Chumo has wide hands-on experience in the sector, having risen through the ranks in the Company, to his current position.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts, Doctorate in Philosophy and Master of Business Administration degrees. Dr. Chumo has wide hands on experience in the sector, having risen through the ranks in the Company to his current position.
He is a Member by invitation of the Audit Committee, Member of the Strategy and Customer Service Committee, Member and Secretary of the Staff and Remuneration Committee, Member of the Procurement Oversight Committee, Member of the Power Purchase Agreements Committee, and Member of the Information Communication and Technology Committee of the Company.
