Keroche Beer X: Kenya’s second largest brewer Keroche Industries has launched a new beer brand targeting the upmarket segment. Keroche has launched the beer product dubbed X Beer. This beer comes as a sugar-free brand. Beer X, with an alcohol content of 8.8 per cent, will retail at Sh. 250 per bottle.
Keroche Chief Executive Officer Tabitha Karanja said that the new beer is a part of Keroche’s deliberate efforts to grow its market share to 20 percent.
“The quality of brand X and its richness is unmatched in the present market. It is targeted at the middle and upper-end market,” Mrs. Karanja said. “For years we have relied on imported strong beer. Being local manufacturers, we have chosen to fill this gap and give Kenyans a beer of great taste that makes for an easy enjoyable drinking experience,” she added.

The launch of the new beer brand comes hot on the heels of another brand known as Vienna Ice Strong which the company launched in April. Vienna Ice Strong comes with 10 per cent alcohol content. Keroche had said that it would generate an extra Sh. 1 billion to the exchequer annually through its Vienna Ice Strong Lager. “The new product Vienna Ice Strong Lager will generate over Sh. 1 billion to KRA every year and this will rise with time as per our market projections,” Mrs. Karanja had said. Other popular Keroche products are the Summit Lager and Malt beers, as well as Vienna Ice and Crescent Vodkas.
