KNEC issues update on 2023 KCSE results release date

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has dismissed claims that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results would be released before Christmas.

In a statement, the exam body flagged an online publication that claimed KCSE results would be announced between December 16 and December 22.

KNEC maintained that the results will be released once the marking is concluded and everything else related is ready.

“KNEC has made no such statement. Marking of KCSE is ongoing, and the results will be released when they are ready,” KNEC stated.

Some   903, 260 candidates sat for the 2023 KCSE examination which commenced on October 23, 2023, until November 24, 2023.

A total of 234, 473 examiners were used to administer this year’s national exams. Already, the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams were marked, and results were released to the public.

The KCPE and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams began on October 30, 2023, and were completed on November 1, 2023.

At least 1,415,315 candidates sat for the KCPE exams, while a total of 1,282,574 candidates sat for their KPSEA assessments.

KPSEA is the new primary exit examination under the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and is administered in Grade 6. The KPSEA candidates will get their results in schools in January.
