In other news, the president offered his condolences following the death of Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama. Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo contracted Covid-19 at the beginning of November and was treated at various hospitals in Nairobi for three weeks.

In his message, President Uhuru said that Nyagarama was a gifted and visionary leader. “I have learnt with profound shock and sadness of the death of the governor. My family and I, and the national government send our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and Nyamira residents. As a nation, death has robbed us of a gifted leader whose primary mission was to transform the lives of residents of Nyamira through development initiatives,” he said.
