Lizz Ntonjira, a former news anchor for NTV, has been appointed as the Communications and Engagement Director for WomenLift Health, a non-profit organization that aims to accelerate the advancement of talented women into senior leadership positions.
The organization operates worldwide, with an initial focus on Africa, South Asia, and North America.
Ntonjira brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has previously held several positions, including Global Communication Director at Amref Health Africa, Public Relations, Communications, and External Affairs Manager for the Competition Authority of Kenya, and several roles with SAID, Tax Justice Network – Africa, and IBM.
In her new role, Ntonjira will lead and implement WomenLift Health’s communications and engagement strategy.
“Lizz will lead and implement WomenLift Health’s communications and engagement strategy across the world with an initial focus in Africa, South Asia, and North America,” the NGO announced in a statement.
The organization achieves its objectives by investing in mid-career women and influencing the environments in which they live and work. WomenLift Health aims to equip women leaders with the tools, expertise, and leadership skills necessary for health impact.

Ntonjira is a Bachelor of Laws graduate from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She launched her career in journalism as a news anchor, reporter, and producer at K24 in 2007, while also working as a staff writer at the East Africa Magazine. Two years later, she moved to NTV, where she worked as a news anchor and reporter for four years.
Ntonjira also holds a postgraduate Professional Diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in the UK, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Strathmore University.
She has received several awards and recognitions throughout her career, including the Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya award and the African Achievers Award.
In August 2020, Ntonjira self-published and released her first book about youth and leadership. The book, titled “Speaking to Lead: How to Influence People and Make an Impact in Life,” provides practical tips for young people on how to develop leadership skills and make a difference in their communities.
Ntonjira has expressed her excitement about her new role and is grateful for the congratulatory messages she has received.
