Europe’s biggest airline Lufthansa has announced that it is increasing its flights between Nairobi and Frankfurt from five to daily.
The daily flights will begin on June 3, 2023. The airline says that this move has been informed by the growing number of bookings between Nairobi and Frankfurt.
According to Lufthansa, the additional flights will arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi from Frankfurt airport at 20:30 PM every day.
It will then depart each evening from Nairobi at 22:25 PM (local time).
In addition to these flights, Lufthansa has also increased its direct flights to Mombasa from four to five flights weekly.
These flights will be operated under the Lufthansa Eurowings Discover brand. These flights will run from June 20 to September 16 2023.
“Not only is East Africa a popular destination and gateway amongst business travellers, but the region is also well known by those travellers seeking an idyllic holiday destination to unwind and relax,” said Lufthansa in a statement.
“The additional capacity to Mombasa comes just in time for the peak travel season and will allow Eurowings Discover to offer holidaymakers the much-needed flexibility and choice when booking their flights.”
The airline currently owns Eurowings, Swiss, Brussels and Austrian Airlines.
