A girl from a poor family in Meru County who scored straight As in the 2021 KCSE exams has been selected to study in the United States. Lynn Nyawira from Bubui scored an A of 82 points at Chogoria Girls.
Nyawira has always been a performer. In December 2017, she was the best pupil in Abogeta West with 434 in KCPE.
Nyawira scored a mean grade of A with an A in English, A in Kiswahili, A in Mathematics, A in Biology, A Minus in Physics, B Plus in Chemistry, A Minus in Geography, an A in CRE.
Nyawira was selected together with Erick Kithinji. Kithinji was also on a full scholarship from Matae’s office. He had scored a Clean A of 81 points at Kagumo High School.
“Eric Kithinji and Lynn Nyawira, have been selected as part of the 40 students from Kenya to study their undergraduate degrees in America,” Abogeta West ward MCA Kiogoria Matae who has been sponsoring the duo said.
“Kithinji has been one of the 12 bright but needy students enjoying full scholarships from my office, some in the current form 2 and form 3. I am over the moon!” he added.
Kenyan who got D+ in KCSE now has 5 degrees from top US universities
After sitting for her KCPE in 2017, Nyawira had nearly missed the opportunity to join a good high school. She had two other siblings who were in high school already and her mother was contemplating taking her to a nearby school due to lack of school fees.
Her siblings had also accumulated fee balances in their respective schools and their mother was yet to clear.
