A woman who was murdered by her married KDF lover had made attempts to show all was not well with her on Facebook before she was murdered.
Immaculate Mwende Mwirigi was murdered in Nanyuki by her lover Emmanuel Walugu Onyango who then turned the gun on himself.
Reports say that Onyango had arrived home and sprayed Mwende with bullets. He killed her instantly then shot himself dead minutes later. Onyango shot himself while dressed in full military combat on the chin using an AK-47 rifle.
That fateful Friday, Onyango had excused himself from home after taking supper saying he had a lot of debts and wanted to clear them.
“The officer was on duty just before the incident took place, he then went ahead and asked for permission to go for supper at 6pm during which he went to meet Mwende,” Laikipia County Criminal Investigation Officer (CCIO) Onesmus Towett said.
A report that appeared in a local daily has traced their relationship to the year 2021 when Mwende and Onyango met in the outskirts of Nanyuki town.
Onyango told Mwende that he was married and living with his wife, and she had no problem with it.
One report says that on October 11, 2021, Mwende changed her profile picture and put that of Onyango who is seen wearing a black t-shirt and trousers. On the same day, she also shared a post on the same Facebook account indicating she was hurt because she realized that she was not as important as she had been thinking.

“It hurts when you realize you aren’t as important to someone as you thought you were,” she posted.
Moments later, she uploaded another photo of Onyango and placed it as the cover photo. In this photo, Onyango wore a grey t-shirt, a green belt, and sunglasses. “It is on the same day that Mwende reportedly told her friends she was in love,” the report said.
