Kenya female rally driver Maxine Wahome has been released from police custody on a Sh. 100,000 cash bail after she beat up her boyfriend Asad Khan.
Wahome had spent two days in custody following her arrest. She was released after the court declined a police request to detain her for fourteen days pending Investigations.
Wahome had asked Magistrate Bernard Ochoi to gag the media from covering her case. She alleged that she was the victim and not the aggressor as the police had painted.
However, the court turned down her request. Wahome was arrested on Tuesday after her boyfriend’s brother reported the incident to the police.
During the arrest, the police found blood and broken glasses at the house. Her lawyers, however, claim that her boyfriend had hurt himself as he attacked her.

The court heard that the boyfriend was yet to record a statement as he’s still unconscious at the hospital.
