A mechanic who stole former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s car was in April 2022 sentenced to death. The death sentence on the case of theft of Uhuru’s car was delivered by Milimani Chief Magistrate, Francis Andayi.

Justice Andayi ruled that the mechanic who was identified as Aggrey Odhiambo had compromised national security.

The mechanic was charged alongside four others with robbing a Chief Inspector of Police, David Machui, a BMW 735 car model that was valued at Sh. 1.2 million in Utawala, Nairobi area on August 26, 2014.

The BMW was stolen from Machui who was driving into his home compound in Utawala, Nairobi, when four armed men confronted him. They forced him into the back seat and drove off. They abandoned him a few metres from the Administration Police Training College in Embakasi six hours later.
