Merishaw School in Kajiado County, known for being a boy-child empowerment centre, has earned bragging rights after posting a stellar performance in the KCSE 2024 National Exams.
The school has toppled national heavyweights in the exams, just two and a half years since its inception. The institution posted a mean score of 10.5686 (Mean Grade: A-), instantly becoming the country’s highest-performing school.
Merishaw School derives its name from the Maa word which means conquerer. The school started in 2022 and had its first intake with only 96 students. By 2024, the number had risen to 800 students.
Former Alliance High School Principal David Kariuki is the principal at Merishaw. Under his leadership, the school has been able to craft success in under 3 years and compete with national schools.
In their first attempt at national exams, Merishaw had a mean score of above 10. The school posted a 100% transition to university for all its students, who scored C+ and above. The students expressed their joy after scoring well and becoming the powerhouse in the country.
“We set a target of 8.5 but managed to surpass it and are looking forward to improving our performance in the years to come,” David Kariuki stated.
Merishaw registered a total of 14 subjects, out of which they scored As in six of them: Christian Religious Education, Agriculture, Computer Studies, Physics, History and Government, and Business Studies.
