Lady shamed by Pastor Ng’ang’a on TV lands Sh. 640,000 Affordable Housing apartment

Milka Moraa went viral a few weeks ago when she was abashed by popular Televangelist Pastor Ng’ang’a when she requested his help to pay for rent after her house had been locked down.

Her life has now turned into a grass-to-grace narrative as she is soon to become a homeowner. Speaking to KBC, the mother shared that the humiliation she suffered has been the point of elevation in her life.

Videos of her tearful embarrassing moment with the televangelist elicited mixed reactions from Kenyan netizens who empathized with her inability to cover two months’ worth of rent.

Kenyans crowdfunded money and managed to raise Sh. 392,000 for her. It was later revealed that the contributions surpassed the Sh. 450,000 mark.

As a sign of goodwill from the government, Affordable Housing officials reached out to her and visited her home to assess the situation and how they could be of assistance. Milka Moraa was later on invited to the Affordable Housing Board’s offices in Upper Hill where she registered to get a unit of the government housing.

She is now moving from living in a shanty measuring 9.2 square feet to a studio apartment that costs Sh. 640,000.

“Moraa lives in Mukuru, she pays a rent of Sh. 4,000 per month which she was unable to raise. Luckily, because of Kenyans of goodwill, she now has a job where she is being paid Sh. 18,000. With that, she will be able to afford a house at Mukuru which will be released soon,” noted Sheila Waweru, the CEO of Affordable Housing.

She can either decide to pay the Sh. 640,000 upfront in full or she could otherwise remit Sh. 3,900 monthly. She will get to enjoy features such as clean water, access to social amenities, an apartment elevator and more, which were beyond her when she lived in a crowded room with dirty stagnant water running nearby.

The affordable housing units in Mukuru are set to be launched by Presidentb William Ruto within the next two months.
