Most followed Kenyans on Twitter (KoT): Twitter is no stranger when it comes to discussing matters publicly and expressing media freedom.

Celebrities, media outlets, and public figures use this platform to interact with their followers and disseminate information. A lot of Gen-Z youth are morphing well into the digital age, using social media as their office. On Twitter, some youth are being paid to tweet.

 The power formed around individuals who command numbers on this platform has made the micro-blogging platform the biggest and one of the most reliable sources of news.

But who are the individuals commanding millions of followers in Kenya on the platform?

President William Ruto is the most followed man on Twitter, with 5.42 million followers on his personal handle. He opened a Twitter account in July 2011.

The second most followed person is his political rival and Azimio flagbearer, Raila Odinga with 4.04 million followers. Raila joined Twitter in May 2011, a few months earlier than President Ruto.

He is followed by Kipchumba Murkomen who has 2.39 million followers, then Larry Madowo with 2.37 million followers.

TV personality Larry Madowo leads the pack when it comes to celebrities with the most followers on Twitter followed closely by Jeff Koinange, Lupita Nyong’o and Julie Gichuru.

Lawyer and politician, Miguna Miguna is not far off with just 2.3 million followers.
