The Service Party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri is set to make a comeback to parliament. This is after he bagged the Laikipia East parliamentary seat.
Kiunjuri had left parliamentary politics in 2013 when he vied for the position of Governor for Laikipia County. He vied under the GNU party which he owned.

Kiunjuri lost in these elections to former Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu. In Laikipia East, Kiunjuri was up against the incumbent Mohamed Amin Deddy. Kiunjuri has previously served as MP and Cabinet minister.
He was the cabinet secretary for Agriculture until he was fired by president Uhuru Kenyatta after falling out of favour with him.
