National Oil CEO Sumayya Athmani’s career profile

Ms. Sumayya Athmani has been Chief Executive Officer of National Oil Corporation of Kenya Limited since September 12, 2010.

Ms. Sumayya Athmani is also an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She served as Deputy Managing Director of National Oil Corporation of Kenya Limited since 2007.

She had over six years working experience having worked with different organizations in the private sector before joining National Oil Corporation.

Sumayya Athmani joined National Oil in 2004 as the Company Secretary and Legal Affairs Manager from private law practice where she worked as a commercial and conveyance attorney.

She also serves as Independent Non Executive Director at Kurwitu Ventures Limited. She serves as a Director of National Oil Corporation of Kenya Limited. She holds a Bachelor of Laws – Honours degree from Lancaster University, United Kingdom and a Master in Law degree in Commercial Law from University of Bristol, United Kingdom and also an advocate of the High Court.

Ms. Sumayya Athmani is currently in the middle of boardroom wars at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya, having been suspended and reinstated in unclear circumstances last month.
