A second runway is set to be constructed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The runway will be constructed at an estimated cost of Sh. 37 billion.
It will be 4.8 kilometres long and 75 metres wide. This will be an improvement from the current runway which is 4.2 kilometres long and 60 metres wide.
According to reports, construction of the runway will kick off in June next year. It is awaiting the approval of a Sh. 19 billion loan from the African development Bank (AfDB).
The new runway will have the capacity to handle new-generation extra-wide-bodied aeroplanes such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing B747-800.
