Omar Lali and Tecra Muigai: It is not a secret that wealthy businesswoman Tabitha Karanja and former beach boy Omar Lali do not see eye to eye. Omar gained national limelight after it emerged that he was the boyfriend of Ms. Karanja’s late daughter Tecra Muigai.

Ms. Karanja now believes that Omar is solely responsible for her daughter’s death in 2020. In fact in the ongoing inquest into her death, Ms. Karanja is on record saying that Omar killed her daughter.

The inquest has revealed that Ms. Karanja never liked Omar. In fact she tried multiple times to persuade her late daughter to leave him in vain. And when the court ruled that an inquest into the death of the Keroche heiress be held, Ms. Karanja revealed something else. She is afraid of Omar.

Initially, the inquest was to be held in Lamu. But Ms. Karanja protested saying that out of this fear, she wanted the inquest into her daughter’s death held in Nairobi.

Through senior counsel, James Orengo, Ms. Karanja and her family told the court that Lali is an influential person among boat owners and operators as well as beach boys in and around Lamu Island.

She then argued that since boat transport is the most reliable means of accessing Lamu Islands, there is a real and well-founded fear in the family that they may not travel to and from the Islands to attend and participate in the inquest proceedings at Lamu without a significant threat to their safety and life.
