Papa Shirandula Burial: The late celebrated actor Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula, has been buried. Papa Shirandula was buried at his at the family’s graveside behind his house and next to two of his siblings’ graves.
His body arrived at the Namisi-Bukeko village home in Nanderema, Funyula in Busia County at 3:40am on Monday. It was accompanied by two buses ferrying mourners from Nairobi. The mourners were screened on arrival health officials from the ministry of health.
His wife, Beatrice Andega, while speaking at the funeral on Monday morning, said the Karen Hospital’s alleged negligence may have led to his death.
“They didn’t consider his condition an emergency and he died while we were at the waiting bay. When he went to hospital, he requested for three tests of malaria, pneumonia and Covid-19 but the hospital concentrated only on Covid and ignored the rest,” she said.
Papa Shirandula died on Saturday afternoon. He died of Covid-19. Shirandula died in Nairobi while undergoing treatment at the Karen Hospital.
“It is sad he didn’t make it out of the hospital alive. He had tested positive for Covid-19. We are devastated,” Shirandula’s brother-in-law Ronald Wanyama said. He added that Shirandula experienced difficulty in breathing before he was rushed to the Karen Hospital.
Shirandula is one of the most popular comedy and acting names in Kenya. He starred in the television mini series Papa Shirandula which aired on Citizen Tv. He also has appeared in several other TV shows such as The Captain of Nakara (2012). He also appeared in numerous big-time commercials across the world including Coca Cola and GOTV. He is survived by his wife Beatrice Ebbie Andega, and three children; Tony, Charlie and Wendy.
The 58-year-old and the firstborn in a family of four was a multiple award-winning actor who scooped the Kalasha Award for ‘Best Actor in a TV Series’ in 2010. Papa Shirandula Burial.
