Education and career profile of KUCCPS CEO Agnes Mercy Wahome
While in campus, he developed interest in politics and vied for the position of Director of Academics while in his first year. He however failed but made a second attempt in third year, when he vied for vice chairman position.
After graduating in 2014, he went back to Kakamega where he landed his first job as a bicycle hawker helping a local venture sell bicycles.
Life took a greener turn when a friend helped him secure a job at Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) as an operations officer/cashier. It was while working at DTB that his leadership dream was revived.
In 2017, he took his first stab at national politics by vying as Mumias East MP, but he came last among the nine candidates, with only 254 votes.
He also lost his bank job forcing him to return to Kakamega. He started working as a tutor at the Sigalagala National Polytechnic in Kakamega County earning Sh13,000.
He used the money to start early campaigns which led to his victory in the 2022 elections. He was vocal about the Mumias Sugar Millers, advocating against the collapse of the Miller. This earned him admiration among the constituents.
Even though he had no resources to campaign, he was greatly supported by his constituents who also built him a mud house.
He also received support from Eugene Wamalwa, who paid Sh100,000 for him to vie for the MP seat under DAP-K party.
Salasya finally won the elective post, making him the Member of Parliament in Mumias East Constituency.
