Power Blackout Nairobi: In Kenya’s capital city Nairobi, there are estates that are more prone to blackouts than the others.
Data from Kenya’s sole power provider, Kenya Power, shows that power outages in these estates lasts from around two to eight hours.
According to this data, estates where power blackouts are rare include estates in the Nairobi West area. This area comprises of estates such as:
Karen
Lang’ata
Kibera
Lavington
Rongai
These estates have only two hours of power blackouts per month.

Residents in areas that are located along Waiyaki Way also experience fewer outages. These few outages are however from Uthiru, Mountain View and Kinoo.
Westlands is a different ball game altogether, with power blackouts lasting for between three and six hours per day in Westlands, Highridge, and Kitusuru estates.
Estates in Nairobi South are get power blackouts of up to two and half hours. These include Embakasi, Dandora, Mombasa Road, Umoja, Tassia and Ruai.
Nairobi North estates are the most notorious with power interruptions. These estates include Roysambu, Runda, Githunguri, Baba Dogo, Kahawa Wendani, Kasarani, Mwiki, Garden City and estates near Kiambu County. Power Blackout Nairobi.
