President Ruto mocks Uhuru for ‘betraying’ him, supporting Raila

President William Ruto on Thursday took a dig at former president Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga.

While addressing the first joint session of Parliament, President Ruto labeled former president Uhuru as the current head of the opposition.

He then said that Uhuru had supported Raila and failed, and now both will have to contend with being in opposition.

“In summary, and this, by the way, only happens in Kenya. The sitting deputy president became the candidate of the opposition and the leader of the opposition became the candidate of government,” said President Ruto.

“As things would be, the opposition candidate won the election and became president, and the president became the leader of the opposition party. That is the beauty of our democracy,” he added.
