Protesting Kenyans on Tuesday afternoon entered the National Assembly. In a historical first, the protesting Kenyans made their way into parliament after they overpowered anti-riot police who had been deployed at the gates.
Reports said that the police shot several people dead during the confrontation. This came as protests against the controversial Finance Bill 2024 that president William Ruto is forcing down the throats of Kenyans spread across the country.
The protestors managed to gain entrance into parliament via the Uhuru Highway after skirting through various blocks that had been mounted by the police.
As the protesting Kenyans made their way into Bunge, reports said that members of parliament who were at the House were evacuated via the underground tunnel, with some reported to have hidden in the basement.
