My Name is Reema Doshi-Lewis, born and raised in Mombasa, Kenya. I studied at Kenyatta University and have over 15 years of Marketing experience in the corporate world.

What inspired you to become and entrepreneur and what are the highlights of your entrepreneurship journey?

I always felt that being a business owner would be my ultimate goal and used to tell me friends about it while I was working. My journey has been great with lots of support from family and friends. It is important to have good partnerships and relationships to help you move forward.

Tell us about your family.

My dad is lives in Mombasa. I have an elder sister and a younger brother who both have their families. My husband and I live in Nairobi. We are a close knit family.

How would you describe the business environment in Kenya?

Enthusiastic, driven, vibrant. We have many people with an entrepreneurial mindset to do the best for others, themselves and their families. It is very encouraging.

Who has been the greatest influence in life/business and why?

My parents. My (late) mom was a strong business woman and so is my dad. They would share their experiences with us growing up. I used to help my mom give change to customers at her shop in Mombasa and serve customers.
Over the years I have learnt lots from my bosses and work colleagues as well.

Tell us about your business

I wanted to venture into helping businesses and organizations with the skill I have, marketing. When I left full time employment at the end of 2017, I first started studying CIM at Strathmore university. Got my first consultancy job from my ex-boss. I am super grateful for the confidence he had in me.

What is the range of your products and services?

Our marketing services are tailor made solutions for our clients depending on their needs. Some of the services we offer are Reputation Marketing, Video Marketing, Websites, Keyword SEO, Marketing audits, Marketing strategies and plans, Product marketing, brand awareness, event organizing and marketing. We provide it both online and offline, but lately more online due to the high demand from businesses, it is the place to be for businesses to grow in this day.

What are the greatest achievements and challenges in business so far?

My first client last year was from outside the country when COVID-19 was hitting hard and everything was shutdown. I was very happy to know that my services knows no boundaries and can help business across the world.
One of my challenges was/is working from home. I miss the interaction with work colleagues & clients, but glad for tools like zoom and google meet to bring us closer.

Who is your competition in business, and do you do to stay ahead in the game?

Every person is a digital marketer, anyone can do Social Media posts and boosts. Challenge is the effectiveness of the campaigns and helping my customers stand out from their competition. I focus on giving value to my customers, always and give them a solution to challenges they face.

What lessons have you learnt on managing people: staff, customers, partners, and other stakeholders?

Keep an open communication. That really is key. Build relationships with trust and communication.

Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?

Good office space with managers and staff dedicated to give the best marketing solutions to our customers with a smile on our faces.

Do you have any other business interests or plan to diversify your business into?

I always wanted to start up a restaurant that offers live entertainment (I am a musician). Will be working on that as my next project.

What do you do for leisure?

I love to sing (I sing in a band called Murfy’s flaw and have been recording on YouTube on my channel too starting last year), I enjoy hiking (I have climbed Mt. Kenya to Lenana peak and Mt. Kilimanjaro to Uhuru peak) and do it regularly and my new found love of gardening in my balcony garden.

What car are your driving currently and what is your dream car?

Toyota IST, I would love a Red VW Golf

Anything you ever regret not doing?

I love adventures and travel often. Still have many places to visit and things to do as I tick them off. I call it my growth list.

What advice you would give to a young person starting out in business?

Find a passion and GET HELP.

Support from family or friends or even coaches/mentors is very important for growing yourself and your business.
