Blogger Robert Alai wins Kileleshwa MCA seat

Blogger Robert Alai has clinched the Kileleshwa MCA seat, projections show.

Alai was contesting for the seat on an ODM ticket. Among those he defeated included Jackson Mwirigi who conceded defeat.

“Thank you for your great support during my campaign period. I am grateful for those who believed in me and voted for me. I am grateful. To the team that won the Kileleshwa MCA seat, congratulations Robert Alai,” Mwirigi said.

Initially, Alai had intended to via for a parliamentary seat in Nyando. He however changed his move and went for the lower seat of member of the county assembly for Kileleshwa ward in Nairobi County.

He had earlier released his six-point manifesto when he sought to unseat the Nyando MP Jared Okello.

“Having been born and brought up largely in Nyando, and having actively participated in national and party politics as a voter and advisor, it is against this backdrop that my interest to serve my people sprouts,” he said.

During the nominations for Kileleshwa MCA seat, Alai had overcome competition from 8 other aspirants to clinch the ticket, garnering 638 votes against his closest competitor Junior Tollo who managed 545 votes.

ODM’s Elias Okumu is the current ward representative of Kileleshwa and has occupied that seat since 2013.
