Safaricom to pay you if your phone call is disconnected

Safaricom to pay you if your phone call is disconnected

Safaricom has announced that it will start paying its subscribers for any disconnections encountered when making local phone calls.

This follows the launching of ‘Safaricom Guarantee’ product by Safaricom  which commits to refund subscribers up to one minute talk time if their phone calls are prematurely disconnected.

If a subscriber’s local phone call is dropped, Safaricom will send in a Short Message Service (SMS) notification and thereafter the subscriber will receive a minute’s worth of airtime compensation.

According to Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, this move is aimed at ensuring Safaricom subscribers enjoy the benefits of Safaricom’s infrastructural upgrades. “Safaricom has in the recent past invested an average of Sh30 billion a year to build the best network for Kenya, but we are aware that this doesn’t mean our subscribers are getting quality service from end to end,” he said.

The launch of the new compensation product comes shortly after a recent quality-of-service report by the industry regulator, Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), showed that none of the three local mobile operators met the required quality threshold.
