Sarah Mutwol: Why I donated Sh. 300k homecoming party money to needy children

Kosirai Ward MCA Sarah Mutwol has donated Sh. 300,000 that she had budgeted for her homecoming party to needy schoolchildren from poor backgrounds who lack fees.

A minimum of 60 children will become beneficiaries of the fund. Ms. Mutwol said that each of the beneficiaries would get Sh. 5,000 to enable them to continue with their education, especially those from day schools.

“Education is the only equalizer between the rich and the poor that’s why my focus is to invest in the sector to enable more learners to get quality education,” she said.

Sarah Mutwol was a primary school teacher before being elected Kosirai ward MCA as an independent candidate. She has urged the beneficiaries of the fund to work hard so that one day they may give back to society.

“It’s not easy to do things from your own pocket that’s why you need to work hard so that you can help others in the future,” she said.

She says that she opted to come to the financial aid of students lacking fees, as she saw no need to celebrate her victory during these hard economic times.

“I have a passion for education having taught for 35 years. During my teaching career, I learned so many things. Let’s help children with the little we have so that they can continue with their education,” she stated.

Parents and students expressed their gratitude to Ms. Mutwol, claiming that her good gesture is a sign that she values education for all. The parents agreed that education is the only way they could improve society.

“I am calling upon all leaders to join hands in the same course so that we are able to eradicate poverty in our community,” said one of the parents.
