Meet man who scored 9A's in exams, forced to resit exams under strict supervision

Professor Sarki Abba Abdulkadir is one of the most respected medical doctors in Africa, and globally. Sarki holds a PhD in Immunology from John Hopkins University.

Currently, he serves as a Professor of Urology and Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Born and raised in Kano State, Nigeria the professor has always been intelligent from a tender age.

Netizens recounted when he did the unthinkable in 1984 while sitting his WASSCE papers. He scored 9 distinctions (8 A1 and 1 A2), an achievement that was unrealistic at the time and had never occurred.

Authorities in Lagos assumed that the 16-year-old Sarki had cheated in the national exams. To repel the mystery concerning his exam prowess, a car was sent to pick him up from his home area to town.

He was forced to resit all 9 papers in 3 days under very strict supervision. To the surprise of many, he scored 9 perfect A1s, with the A2 he’d scored in English before the retake, becoming an A1.

In disbelief, the Lagos authority apologized to the teenager and issued him with a National Merit Award. He was its first recipient.

Sarki Abba joined the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria to study medicine and at the age of 21, he graduated as the overall best medical student and best graduating student in 1989.
