Several months later, engines have damaged and no real action has been taken. Does Shell have any idea of the amount of hustle it takes to buy a car and the cost it takes to repair one? Oil companies are supposed to have a regional level coordinator responsible for conducting a regular checking against filling stations.

Shell needs to be held accountable. As a company, it doesn’t have such a good record when it comes to minding consumer welfare. The company has faced several court cases in Nigeria and in the USA on charges of environmental and human rights abuse.

To prevent this from further occurring, bigger fines need to be imposed on Shell and those affected need to be compensated. Or instead of waiting to be punished, Shell just needs to come forward and fix the mess. Kenyans must also be assured that this will never happen again. If none of the above happen, there should be a boycott. Consumers deserve good service.
