Kenya shilling officially recovers to 159 against US dollar; Banks selling USD at 161

On Monday, the Central Bank of Kenya officially quoted the Kenya shilling at 159 against the US dollar as the local currency extended its recovery to the second consecutive week against the green buck.

The Central Bank of Kenya’s indicative exchange rate on Monday had the shilling at 159.5596 against the US dollar. Among commercial banks, the shilling was quoted at between 161 and 163. The NCBA Bank Group was buying one unit of the US dollar at 156.7 and selling at 161.7.

Among forex bureaus, Pacific Forex Bureau was buying at 157 and selling at 162 before retreating to sell at 159.5.

Satellite Forex Bureau on the other hand was selling USD at 160.
