Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has announced two important partnerships with Nestlé Kenya and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in anticipation of the second edition of the KenGen Sustainable Energy Conference. This event will take place from September 17 to 19, 2025, at the Olkaria Geothermal Spa in Naivasha.
The conference, themed “Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development,” aims to bring together around 500 participants, including government representatives, industry leaders, investors, financiers, and development partners. Their goal is to discuss ways to accelerate Africa’s transition to clean energy, increase investment opportunities, and encourage collaboration at both regional and global levels.
Nestlé Kenya will act as the Official Refreshment Partner, playing a crucial role in promoting responsible consumption while energizing delegates and discussions. The company’s ongoing dedication to sustainability, such as reducing carbon emissions and advancing circular packaging solutions, aligns with the conference’s vision of a greener, more resilient future.

Furthermore, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) will serve as the Official Knowledge Partner. GGGI will share its global expertise in sustainable policies and financing solutions to enhance the quality of discussions. Their involvement is expected to turn the conference into a launchpad for investments and long-term collaborations that extend beyond the event itself.
During the announcement, KenGen emphasized its status as the largest power producer in East Africa, boasting an installed capacity of 1,786 MW, with 90% of its energy generated from renewable sources such as geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar. KenGen reiterated its commitment to supporting Kenya’s green growth journey and contributing to Africa’s sustainable energy goals.
These partnerships illustrate that sustainability involves everyone. Collaboration between the private sector, public sector, and knowledge institutions is essential for achieving Africa’s clean energy future.
