Taj Mall Demolition: Airgate Centre, formerly known as Taj Mall is set to be demolished. This is after a notice of demolition was issued today. Following the notice, tenants have fourteen days to vacate the premises.
Through a public notice seen by Bizna Kenya, M.A Nyakiongora, Chairman of the Multi-sectoral committee on unsafe structures gave the owners a notice to remove the illegal structure by 30 August.
According to Nyakiongera, the mall “has encroached on the road reserve and wayleave hindering the continuance of construction of Outering Road.”
The building has been a bone of contention for over six years between the owners and the government. It therefore remains to be seen whether the demolition will take place.
