Tecra Muigai Inquest: Keroche Breweries chief executive officer Tabitha Karanja has revealed how her late daughter Tecra Muigai sent millions of money to her boyfriend Omar Lali. Ms. Karanja made the revelations when she took to the stand in her daughter’s inquest at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi.
Tabitha accused Omar of financially preying on her late daughter, Tecra Muigai in the name of love. She said that he daughter had worked so hard only to end up sharing her money with an aged man.
She told the inquest that within five months, Tecra had wired over Sh. 1 million to Omar. She added that when Tecra stopped sending the money, an angry Omar laid a plan on how to kill her. “He was after my daughter’s hard-earned income and when she realized that she could not give him money anymore, he killed her,” she said.

She read then read out the bank transfers including the date and amount when her daughter transferred the money to Omar as follows:
- On August 19, 2019, Tecra transferred Sh. 150,000 to Omar.
- On August 10, 2019, Tecra transferred another Sh. 150,000 to Omar.
- On August 28, 2019, Tecra transferred another Sh. 150,000 to Omar.
- On October 18, 2019, Tecra moved Sh. 100,000 to Omar.
- On November 1, 2019, she transferred another Sh. 100,000 to Omar.
- On November 13, 2019, Tecra transferred Sh. 200,000 to Omar. November 13, 2019.
- In December, she moved another Sh. 100,000 to Lali.
- On March 3, 2020, Tecra sent Lali Sh. 60,000.
- Om March 13, 2020, she moved Sh. 80,000 to Omar.
Apart from these sums, Tabitha claimed that her daughter had sent additional sums of money to Omar. She told the inquest that the police had found unsigned bank slips in the Lamu house Tecra shared with Lali.
According to the results of an autopsy that was conducted on Tuesday at Nairobi’s Lee Funeral Home by Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor, Tecra died of injuries she sustained on the left side of her head. Tecra is reported to have fallen off the stairs of a private house in Lamu where she was staying with her Lali.
