Tell-Em Public Relations, one of Kenya’s leading Public Relation’s firms, won two prestigious awards in the just concluded Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) Awards for Excellence held at Intercontinental hotel last Friday. The firm won the Best Overall PR Campaign of the Year and Best Media Relations Campaign of the Year for their role in the launch of mVisa, an interoperable mobile payment solution by Visa Inc.

The PRSK awards recognize and reward PR practitioners who have showcased successful delivery of strategic, creative and professional public relations campaigns. The awards are aligned with the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden Word Awards and SABRE Awards. This year there were 48 entries by various Kenyan agencies and organizations.

“PR campaigns are a team effort so we would therefore like to appreciate the media and bloggers for their continued editorial support, the vendors that worked with us to make the mVisa launch a success, and the Visa team for demonstrating their trust and faith in us,” said Tell-Em PR Account Director, Mrs. Corazon Wandimi.

Elizabeth Cook, the Managing Director of Tell-Em Public Relations said that Visa had been with the agency for almost 12 years. “Visa has been our client since 2005 and we are absolutely delighted to have won an award for our work with this innovative and creative brand – we really value working with the Visa team and this our ninth PR award – we have also won PRSK awards for our work with Coca-Cola and East African Breweries.

mVisa was launched at Villa Rosa Kempinski in September and received strong traditional media coverage hitting tier one Kenyan print and online titles. Various international outlets including Bloomberg, Financial Times, Jeune Afrique, Quartz, CNBC, BBC, Yahoo Finance, CCTV and Reuters also ran the story. Furthermore #mvisa was trending in the second spot on Twitter in Kenya (behind a government announcement) on the day of the launch and over 10.5 million impressions were generated. On top of this, Visa received multiple enquiries from various banks and merchants who wanted to come on board.

The awards event brings together the cream of the PR industry and recognizes excellence across a range of categories including PR campaign categories, supplementary categories and honorary categories.
