Anuarite Nyiha of Kianda School emerged top in the 2019 Nairobi spell like a champion competitions held at Nairobi Primary to select the County’s representatives in the National finals from August 2nd to 5th.Victor Nzoka of Strathmore School was second and Lawrence Kuria of Rophine Field Junior emerged third in the strongly contested competitions.The sub county competitions brought together the top three spellers from more than 200 schools within Nairobi representing Langata, Kibra, Westlands, Starehe, Njiru, Dagoreti, Embakasi, Makadara, Kamukunji and Kasarani.
The best three then proceeded to the County championships where they battled it out with 27 spellers aiming to represent their school and County in the National competition.
The Nairobi trio will compete with 117 others from 40 counties in the National competition with the first, second and third winning Sh500, 000, Sh300, 000 and Sh200, 000 plus laptops.
The school that will produce the best speller will receive a 26-seater bus from DT Dobie. The teachers accompanying the best three pupils will also receive cash prizes.
