Governors Anyang Nyongo (Kisumu), Hassan Joho (Mombasa), James Ongwae (Kisii), and Koli Nanok (Turkana) are among the guests who will headline the 5th edition of the Kenya Diaspora Homecoming Convention this week.

Kiambu’s Deputy Governor, Dr. James Nyoro will lead discussions on Food Security & Agribusiness’.

The Convention, Kenya’s premier diaspora investment event, will attract hundreds of participants drawn from government, the private and public sectors, counties and the international community. In its 5th year, the conventions theme is “Knowledge Management & Youth Engagement – Mashinani.”

The convention will tackle a number of topics, key among them, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship & employment, Infrustructure and urban development, environment, water, hydro-carbons & natural resources, and ways in which the diaspora community can be empowered to invest in the country.

The convention has also attracted a number of representatives and keynote speakers from the private and public sectors.

According to the Central Bank of Kenya, Diaspora dollar inflows from abroad in the 12 months to last October increased by 40 per cent to Sh262 billion ($2.613 billion) from Sh187 billion ($1.873 billion) in the 12 months to October last year.
