Top NTV presenter to replace Victoria Rubadiri at Citizen TV

Co-Op post

The Nation Media Group is set to suffer a major blow after Citizen TV poached one of its top presenters to replace Victoria Rubadiri, who has departed from the station to join CNN.

Sources privy to the details revealed that NTV news anchor OIive Burrows has been tapped by the Royal Media Services-owned station to replace Rubadiri.

Burrows joined NTV in 2018, and was known for her morning talk show AM Live and presenting prime time news.

Before joining NTV, she was serving at Capital FM where she started her career as a freelance magazine writer during her studies at Daystar University.

She later joined the Capital FM news desk as a reporter, climbing the ranks to become the only Kenyan journalist to interview former U.S. President Barack Obama during his visit to Kenya in 2015.

Her entry to Citizen TV comes at a time when the station is suffering a loss of some of its top journalists to the state and other international media houses.

Among the journalists who recently exited the media house for high-ranked jobs include political reporter Francis Gachuri who is currently serving at the Interior Ministry, and Sam Ogina (office of the Majority leader at the National Assembly).

Others are State House Deputy Spokesman Hussein Mohammed, Nick Gitonga (Director of Communication Kwale County), Waihiga Mwaura (BBC), and Willis Raburu (TV47).

Chemutai Goin and Hassan Mugambi also recently exited Citizen TV for government jobs, where they are currently serving as communications specialists in National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s Office and The Ministry of Defence, respectively.
