The mother of the young girl whose photo has been trending since the release of the KCPE results last week has come out to share how shamed she felt after seeing her daughter trending on Facebook in torn uniform.
The mother of Peris Jebet said that she felt as though she had failed as a mother and wished she had the wherewithal to provide for her daughter.
Little Peris Jebet started trending after a user posted the photo claiming that she was a KCPE candidate who had scored 403 marks out of 500 after overcoming multiple obstacles and hardships in life.
But though Jebet comes from a poor family, she was not a KCPE candidate. She will join Grade Five in July 2021.

Her mother Joy Kaimuri told Integrated Education for Community Empowerment, that she was informed by her friends that a picture of her daughter was on social media after the KCPE results were released.
Ms. Kaimuri felt awful that her daughter’s picture was viral yet she had a torn school uniform.
She also afraid that her daughter would be subjected to ridicule due to her poor status. “The picture of the girl is my daughter but the name is not hers. Her real name is Eunice Wangui. She is 10 years and is yet to sit for her exams. Right now she is in upcountry but what if she comes back and other kids start teasing her, I think she can start hating herself,” the heartbroken mother said.
Ms. Kaimuri, a mother of three, said that if she had the financial capability to buy her child a decent uniform or even take her to a better school, she could have done it promptly.
