Uber Is Now Letting You Fly In A Chopper....Find Out More

By Bizna Brand Analyst

Created in 2009 and now serving over 200 cities  in the world, Uber has revolutionized transport in Nairobi. It has served as a much welcome alternative to the ridiculous and okay, let’s be real, the almost absent taxi service we have in this city. Uber connects drivers with customers in the easiest, quickest and safe way. Once you become a member and build your profile, a quick click of a simple app on your phone delivers a reputable driver in a clean car to your destination in minutes.

The Uber app shows you where the drivers are located and measures your car’s arrival in minutes. You get a text when the car is en route and a notification when it arrives. And you don’t have to worry about fumbling with cash or credit cards or dealing with tips because everything is taken care of within the app. And in case you were wondering about safety, every driver is thoroughly screened through a rigorous process including an in-depth criminal and driving background screening.

Now Uber has come up with something new and refreshing. Just when we were still digesting how the ride sharing company had revolutionized the taxi industry, it’s now taking us to the skies.

Uber has partnered with Corporate Helicopters to fly some lucky clients around Nairobi and Mombasa on Sunday, September 4. The campaign dubbed UberCHOPPER is bringing scenery and sky-high style to you. Plus, there’s another catch. The lucky few will be sharing an UberCHOPPER with celebrities such as Eric Omondi, Huddah Monroe or Larry Madowo in Nairobi! In Mombasa, the celebs involved will be Chef Ali, DJ Lenium and Miss Global Kenya, Tima Keilah .

I don’t know about Huddah Monroe though. Could they replace her with someone who has actual talent?  Anyway it’s all good, but the big question is……

NCBA

How do you get lucky?

There are a couple of ways to go about it

(1.) Winning tickets online

  • Watch the GIF on Uber’s website HERE and take a screenshot of the #UberCHOPPER centered exactly over the giraffe
  • Follow or like both Uber Kenya (Twitter, Instagram or Facebook) and Corporate Helicopters (Twitter, Instagram or Facebook) social media pages
  • Post the screenshot with #UberCHOPPER and your city, #Nairobi or #Mombasa
  • Tag Uber Kenya, Corporate Helicopters and a person that you’d like to share your ride with
  • Be sure to describe why you picked the person tagged to share an experience of a lifetime with
  • If you’re among the favourite entries (before 6:00 pm on Friday, September 2, 2016), Uber will offer you 2 seats for a helicopter ride scheduled for Sunday, September 4, 2016

(2.) You can also request UberCHOPPER through the Uber app. Simply enter promo code ‘CORPHELIKE’ in the promotions section of the app to unlock the UberCHOPPER option. Next, open your app at 10:00 am on Sunday, September 4, 2016. After that, you pair up with your guest and select the UberCHOPPER option. You will now be required to confirm your pickup location in Nairobi or Mombasa. Tap the request button at the bottom of the screen and cross your fingers

If connected, you will be called by your driver and picked up for a ride to the helipad. And then it’ll be time to enjoy a 20 minute chopper ride celebrating either the beautiful Rift Valley from Nairobi or breathtaking coastline in Mombasa

Some additional points to note are as follows

  1. The winners of the social media competition will be picked and announced in advance
  2. The first person to request UberCHOPPER through the app at 10:00 am on Sunday, September 4 (in either Nairobi or Mombasa) will win the final pair of seats available in both cities
  3. Demand will be sky high and availability will be limited
  4. If you don’t get an UberCHOPPER, don’t worry. We’re working towards having more opportunities like this one
  5. Your guest must be with you at your pickup location
  6. You must have a valid ID to board the helicopter. All passengers must be 18 years or older
  7. Your flight will be about 20 minutes long but you should keep 6 hours free to account for travel time to the helicopter and any possible delays
  8. If the weather does not permit, the UberCHOPPER flight will be rerouted or rescheduled to another date
  9. Uber is not a direct air or transport carrier. All air services will be provided byCorporate Helicopter

Let’s see how this one turnsout
