US DV Lottery 2021 Application: The US State Department has announced the registration period for the highly anticipated 2021 Diversity Visa Program (Green Card Lottery).
The US DV lottery 2021 registration period will begin on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019 at 12pm EDT and end on Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 at 12pm EST. A total of 55,000 permanent resident visas (green cards) will be available through this program. There is no cost to register for the Diversity Visa program. Registration is done free online. The Diversity Visa program provides permanent resident visas to nationals of countries with low immigration rates to the Unites States over the last five years.
US DV lottery 2021 registration period
The requirements include:
- Be a native of an eligible country. The DV program is for nationals of countries with low immigration rates to the US. The following eighteen countries are not eligible to participate in DV-2021. This is because more 50,000 of their citizens immigrated to the US in the last five years:
1). Bangladesh
2). Brazil
3). Canada
4). China (mainland-born)
5). Colombia
6). Dominican Republic
7). El Salvador
8). Guatemala
9). Haiti
10). India
11). Jamaica
12). Mexico
13). Nigeria
14). Pakistan
15). Philippines
16). South Korea
17). United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories
18). Vietnam.
- Education or work experience: At least a high school education or its equivalent is required; this is defined as successfully completion of a 12-year course of formal elementary and secondary education. Two years to qualifying work experience within the past five years may be substituted for high school education. The work must be in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform.
- Passport: New for DV-2021, the primary applicant will also need to have a valid, unexpired passport. Individuals who are stateless, nationals of a Communist-controlled country are exempt from the passport requirement. Also exempt are beneficiaries of an individual waiver approved by the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary of State.
The State Department urges those who do not meet eligibility requirements to not register.
Once the registration period for US DV Lottery 2021 application is open, registration will only be done online at dvlottery.state.gov. Participants are also urged not to use third parties, “agents, or “visa consultants” to complete registration on their behalf.
