US Visa Renewal in Kenya: The Embassy of the United States of America in Kenya has announced changes to some of its visa rules. According to the new changes, the embassy has waived the requirement for new physical interviews for Kenyans whose visas have expired.
This has been announced by the US deputy consul Elliot Fertik. “This new program will allow us to not only to process more visa applications but it also means that you don’t have to come in for an interview and it is safer,” he said.
Fertik also declared that Kenyans seeking to travel to the United States should get fully vaccinated by November 2021. “If you plan to enter the United States you will need to be vaccinated by November,” he said.
He said that the US government was working on a list of the vaccines that shall be acceptable for entrance into the country. “Some of the details of these are still being worked out. For example, which exact vaccination will qualify will be determined by the Center for Disease Control,” he said.

Fertik further added that the embassy was working to speed up the visa application process. The embassy has previously cautioned that it is facing a huge backlog that is resulting in visa approval and processing delays. “We are faced with a significant backlog in most visa categories and all applicants should expect significant delays,” the embassy said recently.
