The United States Agency for International Development, USAID photography contest kicked off on June 6th, 2022 for young photography pioneers worldwide.
Dubbed #YEPHOTOCONTEST, USAID invites all youth individuals from around the world, to showcase their photography skills. The contest has a minimum age entry of 15 years with the maximum age for an applicant being 35 years.

Youths interested in participating in the contest must submit their photos before the 17th of July 2022. USAID encourages participants to take photos focusing on the following key areas.
- Youth mental health and wellness – Photos focusing on how your community is working towards supporting youth mental health
- Youth at the forefront of economic development – Photos representing how youth are engaged in promoting employment for their fellow youth.
- Youth and decision-makers at work – Photos showing how youth are working with various stakeholders to create locally-led community solutions
- Youth driving decisions through data – Photos showing instances of youth using research and data to solve community problems.
- Gender and Inclusion – Photos showing marginalized youth participating in solving community problems. They include youth with disabilities, young women and girls, religious minorities, LGBTQI+, Indigenous youth and minority ethnicities.
The criteria for validity to participate in the contest are as follows;
- Ages between 18-35 years old.
- Participants must be from North America, Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East or the Carribean
- Photographs submitted must be originally from the participant with all copyrights reserved.
- Participants have been limited to 5 photos per theme entry, without being limited to participate in the multiple-entry areas.
- Photographs submitted must focus on a particular theme of the competition.
- Photographs can be taken with a camera or a mobile phone
- Photographs submitted must be in JPEG format with a maximum size of 1 MB.
- Photographs should not be submitted with watermarks, overlays or signatures on them.
First place in each theme entry stands a chance to win a prize valued at USD 300.
