Useless Courses in Kenya: 26 universities in Kenya are currently offering worthless degree courses to over 10,000 students.
This has been revealed in a report by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service. The controversial courses have been termed worthless and useless mainly because they have not been approved by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
The lack of approval has raised questions on why the universities have been offering them. It also means that the affected students will earn papers they can’t use to get jobs or quantify their academic levels.
The courses include:

3). Political Science
4). Community Development
5). Development and Policy Studies
6). Counselling Psychology
7). Economics
8). Kiswahili
9). International Relations
10). Public Administration and Governance
11). Peace Education
Science courses include:
1). Applied Statistics with Computing
2). Actuarial Science
3). Botany
4). Informatics
5). Natural Resource Management
Other controversial courses include:
1). Management and Information
2). Human Nutrition and Dietetics
3). Public Health
4). Biochemistry.
Tom Mboya University College has the highest number of unapproved courses, with the number of programmes standing at 25.
