Apply for Vijana Na Agribiz competition & stand a chance to win Sh. 1 million

In a bid to foster sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation within Kenya’s agricultural sector, the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) introduced the Vijana na Agribiz program.

This is an initiative supported by the European Union (EU) and the Royal Danish Embassy. It aims to unlock the untapped potential of agribusiness while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Youth and women entrepreneurs are encouraged to place their applications into the Vijana na AgriBiz competition by filling in this application form. The nationwide competition targets Kenyan citizens aged between 18-35 years.

It will offer an array of services including business incubation, access to finance, and capacity building.

By extending a helping hand to women and youth, the program is poised to catalyze job creation in the country, facilitate business scalability and ultimately foster sector-wide growth.

In a country where unemployment continues to scorch our lands, another primary aim of the competition is to overcome barriers that hinder youth from tapping into the immense opportunities presented by agriculture.

Additionally, it will offer support across the entire agricultural value chain. By this, the competition emphasizes the transformational potential of agribusiness spanning traditional agriculture, fisheries and livestock.

Youths have been urged to seek innovative practices in agricultural practices, not only within a national context but also in the global arena.

This will ultimately increase their chances of winning the Vijana na Agribiz competition.

Perks available to competition champions include market connections, and scaling opportunities through investors, which will ultimately drive economic expansion in the long run.

The following shows the rewards attainable to successful applicants that develop sustainable and transformative agricultural technologies:

  • The top 20 individuals will gain entry into the AgriBiz program, fully equipped with conditional grants to bolster their business concepts.
  • The winner will be awarded a cash prize of Sh. 1,000,000.
  • The runner-up will get Sh. 750,000
  • Third place will be given Sh. 500,000

These winners will further get to enjoy participation in boot camp sessions, investor readiness workshops and a year-long incubation program.

Aspiring participants are invited to apply by filling out the online application form, available in English or Swahili. The application deadline is Friday, September 15th, 2023.
