Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu is set to become the second Governor in Kiambu.
Mr. Waititu has trounced his main rival, William Kabogo. As at 8.16am, he had garnered 698,940 votes against Kabogo’s 187,036 votes.
The votes were from 1788 polling stations out of 1,963 polling stations in the county.
James Ng’ang’a Gitau came in at a distant third followed by Gakuru Kanyanja.
The victory by Waititu is a redemption, after losing the 2013 gubernatorial contest in Nairobi.
His votes represented a 78.24 percentage against Kabogo’s 20.94 percentage mark.
The two candidates had been involved in a bitter political contest that went all the way to the courts, where kabogo protested that Waititu was not qualified to contest for the Governor’s position.
