The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has linked rogue police officers to the death of the slain Kevin Omwenga’s brother Wycliffe Omwenga.
According DCI boss, George Kinoti, the police based at Riruta Police Station bungled the death report even though it was clear that Wycliffe Omwenga was a key witness in a murder trial. “He could have been killed by parties who have an interest in many issues at hand. And given the manner in which officers at the station acted, it raises many questions,” Kinoti said.

He further added that detectives from the DCI had interrogated police officers based at Riruta over the death, and had also taken over the scene of the crime.
Wycliffe was found dead in his house in Riruta, Nairobi. According to police, the body had some few bloodstains when it was discovered on Wednesday. The door to his house was reportedly locked from inside. The police said that they were looking for a woman who was reportedly spotted leaving the house on Tuesday night.
His cause of death was not immediately established. “As a family, we are in shock given the mysterious death of Wycliffe which has happened less than a year after his brother was brutally murdered. We are seeking answers from authorities,” Kennedy Ongwae, Wycliffe’s uncle said.
The late Wycliffe Omwenga was a key witness in his brother murder case. His brother, Kevin, was shot dead at his apartment in Galana Suites, Kilimani estate on Friday, August 21.
