The 2016 Full Year Banking Sector Report has ranked KCB as the best bank in Kenya today. The report prepared by Cytonn Investments also ranked Co-operative Bank as the second best bank in Kenya in a move that saw Co-op Bank rise from the third position to the second.
In the report, Equity Bank dropped from second to third position while National Bank was ranked lowest.
Standard Chartered Bank rose three positions to position five from position eight as a result of its franchise value boosted by the bank’s high deposits per branch at Sh. 4.7 billion above the industry average of Sh. 3.4 billion, and a strong tangible common equity ratio of 17.0 per cent, above the industry average of 14.2 per cent.
Diamond Trust bank DTB was ranked at number four.
Most banks recorded negative growth with only Standard Chartered Bank and Diamond Trust Bank recording double digit growth at 43.9 per cent and 16.6 per cent, respectively.
