The Ministry of Education has officially released the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
Speaking on Friday, January 9, while handing over the results to President William Ruto, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba said a total of 993,000 candidates sat the examinations.
Female students accounted for 50 per cent of the candidature at 501,214 compared to 492,012 males, marking the second time in a row female candidates outnumbered their male counterparts since KCSE’s inception.
“This is the second year in a row since the inception of KCSE that the number of female candidates is higher than male,” Ogamba noted.
Some 1,932 candidates attained grade A, while 270,000 scored C+ and above, qualifying them for direct entry to university.
“We are impressed that out of the 993,000 candidates, 50 per cent of whom were girls, 270,000 attained C+ and above, securing a direct entry to university,” Ogamba remarked.
According to the Education Ministry, 418 candidates were implicated in examination irregularities, marking a drop from the 614 cases recorded in 2024.
The 2025 KCSE examinations were administered countrywide between October 21 and November 14, 2025.
All learners who sat the exam can now check their results through the official KNEC portal: results.knec.ac.ke.
Candidates are required to enter their index number and index number as per the registration data provided to KNEC.
