Florence Kanario is the prime suspect in the murder of Swaleh Kalema. Kalema’s body was found dumped on the edge of a road in KK, Igembe Central. His wallet which had cash, documents and an expensive phone had not been touched.
This was moments after Kalema and Kanario had left a popular hotel in Laare town together. According to detectives, Kalema had been stabbed to death and Kanario was found with cuts on her fingers which she could not explain.
Detectives say that Kanario may have killed Kalema after she caught him flirting with a hotel receptionist at a hotel in Laare that Sunday.
CCTV footage indicated that Kanario and Kalema, who were cohabiting, had arrived at Kajuko hotel at around 5pm on Sunday and left together at around 3am.
Before they left, Kanario is seen on CCTV storming out of the hotel and going to her vehicle. This was after she accused Kalema of flirting with the waitress.
Twenty minutes later, Kalema walks out of the hotel with the waitress and Kanario drives towards them. Kalema then boards the vehicle and they drive away.

Detectives say that after driving away, an argument ensued before they arrived in Maua, where they lived. It was during the argument that Kanario stabbed Kalema to death. She then dumped the body on the side of a road and proceeded to their house.
